What's Up

Fri Jul 17, 2009, 5:29 PM
So, to everyone who is watching me, I realize it's been about a year now since I've updated and I'm truly sorry, but I'm working on a comic that's eating up my time as well as preparing for a 4th year film and going to co-op every day animating e-cards. Needless to say, I'm thoroughly exhausted. If you seek anything else, I'm uploading original work to my blog now and then, so if you're interested, stop on by.

Also, on a completely different note. Since I can usually only work while multitasking (stupid being female-ness), I was watching the original subbed Full Metal Alchemist and rediscovering why it's my second favourite television series, after Avatar. I mean, the emotions, the characters, the twists and turns, the plot, not to mention the great animated action sequences, the music, the character designs themselves. And, everytime I finish it, I feel like clapping my hands together and then slapping them against something, even though I realize it will never work. Of course there are always little imperfections, but I'm willing to ignore any in this beautiful one.

It's a shame that I'm not enjoying the new remake of it "Brotherhood". It just doesn't have the same atmosphere. One of the things that I loved about it so much is that it was incredibly dark, and yet could brighten it up now and then easily without seeming forced. I take that to heart and try and keep a very similar atmospherical balance in my own comic. I intend to read the comics of course, because I know the comic creator had a completely different plot, but, I think that might work better than watching the show because they're both the same medium, and it's hard to seperate them as such. Brotherhood is just too silly and light-hearted a lot that the serious scenes seem forced and fall flat.

For example, Howl's moving castle. I treated them as completely seperate entities (the book and the movie) and in their own way they were both good, however very different. But when both are animated shows... that doesn't work as well.

I was quite dissappointed, and that's why I started watching the original over again... and again... and again. It will never get old. I'm possitive.

Just felt the need to share. I thoroughly reccomend the series to anyone who hasn't seen it yet.

The crickets and the rust-beetles scuttled among the nettles of the sage thicket. "Vámonos, amigos," he whispered, and threw the busted leather flintcraw over the loose weave of the saddlecock. And they rode on in the friscalating dusklight.
